The Tide
If you can’t read it it swoops in on you. It gathers you, drags you out into billowing waters and pummels you with waves that come from so many different directions you cannot decipher what direction is up. Where to go to breathe. Surrounded by water, gasping for air, your body tumbles and jerks up, down, sideways, and all over. The harder you fight against it, the less control you have. You panic and try to find a way to surface, to get just one sufficient breath…then you realize you have to let go, let IT carry you and stop fighting. When you give in to what is stronger than you, it will take you where you need to be. If trust that the tide will carry you, you’ll end up where you should be. Back on shore.
